About Fred
Fred Anthony Payne was born on July 17, 1971. Fred grew up in Southern Maryland and graduated from Chopticon High School in St. Mary's County. After graduation, Fred joined the U.S. Army.

In 1991, Fred was deployed to Kuwait for Operation Desert Shield. Fred served with the VII Corp which was instrumental in the liberation of Kuwait.

After leaving the Army, Fred eventually became a family man, working with Verizon and having 3 sons with his wife Patty.

On November 22, 2007, Fred was offically diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Fred tried chemotheropy, but his body did not react well to it. He passed away on February 16, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Maryland.

When Fred was diagnosed with cancer, he knew that Pancreatic cancer was one that did not have a good survival rate. He was told that he had 3 to 8 months to live. When someone asked Fred if he ever felt like why me, his response was always "Why not me."

I am asking that people make donations in memory of Fred. Fred was a wonderful father who was often called "Mr.Mom" and helping children is the best way to honor him.
